Our 1st Christmas!!

1st off Merry Christmas to everyone! I hope you are all excited and done with all your shopping because believe it or not Brad and I have celebrated our part of chirstmas together already! Here is our tree that we bought and I put up while Brad was at work and put all of his presents underneath. Who knew that he loved Christmas so much that he was begging me to open them. I said, "No, NO, NO!!" But he kept asking and asking and I finally cracked. But it was a lot of fun and we really had fun doing our Christmas together! I loved our small little tree, it's so cute and so fun! Every Christmas my mom and dad make chicken scampi for dinner. And since I love chicken scampi I decided it's going to be our new tradition. This is the scraps from after dinner! But we lit a candle and made it a little fancy.
This is Brad and his stack of presents from Santa (me) as excited as can be because he finally got to open them! ha

This is me and my stack of presents from Santa (Brad). I had no idea what anything was!!

Brad's big present this year was an acoustic guitar pick up, which basically allows Brad to plug into an amp. As you can see he was very excited!!

My big presents this year were ALL 4 SEASONS OF GREY'S ANATOMY!! It was so exciting and I had no idea I was getting them! It's been so much fun watching them together!!
So that was our Christmas and we can't wait for the rest of it when we head down to California to see the family! We can't wait to get away from the snow and see everyone!
We are also very excited to be closing on our house either tuesday or wednesday! We are packing up and getting ready to move before we get to California!
You are now updated in our lives and sorry it took so long!! Love you all!!

My First Thanksgiving Away

Ok so when I put these pictures in they were in the opposite order but hey, what am I going to do! ha
Anyways this was my first thanksgiving cooking the meal. It was very scary but I got it all prepped the day before, so I got the stuffing all made, the sweet potatoes all done and got the turkey all done up! So then all Brad had to do while I was at work was get the rolls out to rise and put the things in the oven. I worked til about 4:45 and when I got home everything was going to plan and Brad and done everything I asked of him, it was so sweet of him.
This is a side note. Here is Sadie today while she was sleeping. She apparently is growing out of her bed and is sleeping on the floor and most of the time on the end of our bed. She is getting so big, we took her to get her first round of shots and she is about 9 lbs and healthy!
Here is Brad sleeping on the floor before I left to work yesterday. It was really cute. We moved some of our furniture so we have a lot more room in our living room!

Here is the table of all the people we had over. We had all 3 leaves in hardly had room for all the food. But we had tons of food, and while we ate we baked the pies and had a wonderful time. Brad and I ended up cooking the turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, rolls, and pies (with homemade whipping cream). We had so much fun, and after dinner we did a little cleaning and player ballderdash.. or something like that! ha

And here is me carving my first Turkey!! It was a lot harder than it looks, but it was fun and tasted even better! I can't wait to help next year!

Our New Additions!!!!

Brad and I have some Big news for everyone!!
First, Brad and I are in the process of buying a new home! We've been looking into this for a few months and are going for it now. So, since I'm so excited I'm going to tell you all abouit it! It's about 1,800 sq ft. 3 bed, 1 and a half bath, granite tile in the kitchen, walk-in closet, central air, very spacious, tons of storage, and many other wonderful small details! Brad and I are very excited and can't wait to move in, hopefully before Christmas!
We also needed to jump on getting the house because of our other new addition, who will need a little bit more room! This is our new puppy!!! She is part Lab and Border Collie... Her name is Sadie and she loves mommy and daddy!! She's working on being potty trained and is doing a wonderful job today!!
Sadie is so much fun to watch! She is always making us laugh, from the way she runs, to the way she thinks she's a princess, and the way her feet just can't stay underneath her!

This is to show you how tiny she is!!

Getting ready for my 1st Thanksgiving

So, this Thanksgiving is my first Thanksgiving that I have to cook on my own. Brad and I are going to my house for Christmas and so we will be working during Thanksgiving week. Anyways we are having a few couples over for dinner and I'm making the turkey and I'm pretty nervous because that's the main event. What if I mess it up? What if I burn it? Now, I know the pressure that every Mother or Grandmother or in my case (Father) goes through on this day... it's crazy stressful. So, if anyone had an advise or quick easy recipes, I will gladly take them.
PS. Albertsons is having a deal right now, (at least in Idaho) where you buy 2 Sara Lee's Pies (Cherry, Apple or Pumpkin) and 2 half gallon Bryers Ice Cream all for 6.78 (that's with tax) You can't make a pie for that cheap.
So, if you are incharge of pie, stock up, no limit and it's an awesome deal.
Pays to know an emplyee right?! haa

A Helpless Pair!!

So Brad and I have had a very hard weekend! So many things to cause just the right amount of annoyance.
I have very sensitive skin, so I grew up getting little rashes or things on my skin that usually just went away. But I've had a rash for about a week now and it was itchy and all that fun stuff. But nothing I put on it would make it feel better, we tried just about everything! I finally went to the doctors yesterday and what do you know?! I have shingles! (I decided an actual picture of shingles would be pretty gross... so I thought I would spare you all.) And since I didn't go to the doctor when I first saw the rash, there is nothing she can do or give me. So I have about another week or 2 of the pain. I'm thinking of making a paper chain.. but who knows! Second reason why were a a helpless little bunch is Brad ended up in the hospital while I was at work. As many or you may or may not know, Brad is anaphylactic towards peanut oil, peanuts, any thing with the word nut (pretty much). I don't mind this, it has been a change but I love him so it is worth it to me if he lives! Anways, I worked from 5 to 1:30 saturday night and so Brad went and played guitar hero (guirtaro) with some friends and their wives. His friend had made some hot wings, which I dont' know if you know this but Brad could live off of wings, So he was really excited.
Now the 2 couples that were their, we are really close to one of them and the couple that made the hot wings, it was Brad's first time hanging out with them. So Brad ate one of his wings, and loved the sauce, he asked what was in it, (and usually Danny, who maded the wings doesn't tell his "secret ingredients") Danny told him the secret was the spicy peanut sauce, and Brad and our close friends grabe the bottle and see the first ingredient in the sauce is peanut butter, Brad told them he needed to go to the hospital right away. So they took off to the hospital with Brad's lips and toungue swelling. Luckily I think his air way didn't close up right away because he took a benidryl before going over because of cats. So when I got home at about 1:15 I couldn't believe what Brad was telling me.
So Brad was all better, minus me being a nervous wreck since this is his first reaction since we've been married, I think I stayed up all night checking on him to make sure he was still breathing. But everything is ok Brad is better and I will be soon....hopefully!

First Halloween

Since Brad and I got married in February we are having our first holidays together as a married couple. So this is our first Halloween together and we insisted on carving a pumpkin! We've been really excited about this especially as we watch people buy pumpkins at work. Our schedules at work have been really nice this semester because we have at least one day off together sometimes 2. So we got our pumpkin last night and a kit to crave with. The kit we bought had patterns of what to carve. We did a level one pumpkin because those level 4's looked way to hard! This is Brad and I after we finished carving...we like to take pictures of ourselves! ha
This is our Pirate Pumpkin. I haven't thought of a name for him yet but don't worry, he'll have one. Brad picked out the pirate and we had fun de-gutting it and picking out the seeds to bake. (but I accidentally burnt the seeds so no yummy pumpkin seeds, next year right?!) But we have a fun time and enjoyed our first pumpkin carving experience! Now, all we need is the doughnut cat!! ha

Concerts and Promotions

So a few weeks ago Travis texted me and said that Yellowcard would be playing possibly their last show ever in Logan on September 30th. Yellowcard has been my favorite band of life since I heard "Big Apple Heartache" from their CD "One For The Kids." Then "Ocean Avenue" came out and they exploded to where they are now. The last time I saw them was Fall semester of 2004. So I asked Mel if we could go down to Logan and she said yes. So we were lucky enough to both have the day off and went down with some of our friends. The show was played completely on acoustic guitars and was by far the best concert I have been to in my whole life. After the show was over we hung around for a couple minutes and the guys came out to meet the fans. When I saw them my senior year in high school I met the drummer and had him sign my shirt, but have not gotten to meet them since then. So this pretty much made my concert going life! This is me and Ryan Key. He is the lead singer and lead guitarist for Yellowcard. He's pretty much my musical hero.
This is me and Sean Mackin. He plays the violin. He's been known to do backflips off the drum stand, the stool he usually has up there, and even off the 5-10 foot speaker stacks on stage. Unfortunately he didn't do any that night.
This is me and Ryan Mendez. He is the other guitarist. He joined the band in 2005 after they finished recording "Lights And Sounds" and Ben Harper left the band for whatever reason. Personally, I like him a lot better than Harper.
Now for the promotions part. As I'm sure everyone knows, Mel works at Albertson's and she has been a checker there since October of last year. Well, last week she was talking to one of her managers and she asked her if she would like to have the manager position that they were looking to fill. Of course she said she would, so now she is the newest front end manager at the Rexburg Albertson's! Of course now she has more responsibility and will be working a few more hours every week, but she will be getting a pay raise. But we're both excited for this new opportunity and I couldn't be more proud of her.

The "Stache"

During the 7 weeks Brad grew a long go-tee... (have no idea how to spell it.) And he had to go get our books for school. And if you don't know, to be on campus the only facial hair allowed is a mustache.. Ha So, I walk in the door from work... And there it was... nothing I could do about it. It had been sculptured and trimmed.. I was in pure SHOCK!! ha
But it was fun and we enjoyed making fun of it. This is me and my creepy husband right before decided he was tired of me not looking at him and very tired of looking at himself. So good-bye mustachey.... you over stayed your welcome!!

Who's the BIGGEST Loser?!?!

So Brad and I have packed on some of those newlywed pounds. So one night Brad and I were watching a commercial for the show, and I told Brad I would love to do something like that, and he said, "Why don't we do it together?" So Today is the first day we are starting our own Biggest Loser. We will be going until the end of November..... 12 weeks. So wish us luck and we will need some encouragement! ha

20 Questions?

You'll probably notice this on the first question, but this isn't Mel, it's Brad.

1. What do you want right this minute? For it to be 10:00 Saturday morning so I can play football.

2. If you were a boxer, what would your ring name be? The Round Mound of Pound

3. Would you rather be perfect from the waist up or the waist down? I think I'd have to go with waist up, that's a harder area for me to trim up than below.

4. Would you rather meet Oprah or Ellen? Probably Oprah, just because she's freakishly rich and might send some my way.

5. Have you ever had Gonorrhea? No, thank heavens

6. What does your favorite pair of underwear look like? That's tough, I think I'll have to say.... white? Definitely my white ones. Mel says they're very flattering.

7. What’s one thing you’re afraid of? Cockroaches. Anything that can survive a nuclear attack (besides a twinkie) is not good in my book.

8. If you could be reincarnated as someone/something, what would you pick? Probably the Mets' thirdbaseman David Wright. Then I would demand a trade to Seattle. Or maybe Seahawks linebacker Lofa Tatupu.

9. Who is your least favorite actor? Steven Segal. I'm sorry, but he just doesn't strike me as an action hero. The eyebrow just doesn't cut it.

10. Do you ever have recurring dreams? I used to have a recurring nightmare/night terror, whatever you choose to call it, and I would always wake up freaking out. I've had it since I've been older and, fortunately, it doesn't have the same affect on me.

12. Do you like reality TV? Please, no

13. Are you happy right now? Of course

14. Would you rather have a salad or a burger? Really? Burger of course.

15. What would you do if you were locked in a room with your worst enemy for 3 days? I would probably count the bricks or tiles in the room when I wasn't sleeping.

16. Were you popular in high school? Not really, but I was content.

17. What did you want to be when you were little, and did you follow that dream? I wanted to be either a professional baseball player or football player. Obviously not.

18. What’s one of your favorite quotes? "'No regrets!' That's my motto. That and... 'Everybody Wang-Chung tonight.'" "Carpe the diem! Sieze the... Carp!" (Both from "Out Cold")

19. What is one of your weaknesses? Cookies. Definitely cookies. Can't live without them.

20. Do you see the glass as half empty or half full? Half full, I'd say I'm pretty optimistic.

Trip to see the Fam!!

First off I'm sorry this took so long to get up. Who knew life could get so busy. Work and getting our lives ready for school has been kind of crazy. But here is our blogs and we love you all. Sorry about the delay!!
It was so nice to see the family! Saturday morning we took the train to Salt Lake and walked around temple square, and those of us who hadn't seen the Joseph Smith movie went to watch it and Jules and Mom watch baby Davin and Weston. Who apparently got very hyper which if you're with Jules and Mom just seems to happen, and Weston had to tickle angel Moroni's toes... and now looks like is his new thing!
This is Brad and I sitting infront of a fountain while we enjoyed walking around temple square. Me and my Mommy!! It was fun to see her again, and catch up and cuddle and get some of that mommy love before I see her in December... such a long time away. It was fun walking around temple square with all the weddings going on.. it made me want to re-do mine all over again... so fun!!

Me and my sisters, minus Joy. It was nice to see them and to catch up. I hadn 't seen Jules in like 6 months.. it was aweful! But nothing had changed and we still had fun being hyper together. After we walked around we had lunch at the Lion House. It was really really good! And it was nice to sit together for a meal.
I loved this picture because Weston loves his Uncle Brad... after telling me he was pooping when I got to their house he asked me where Uncle Brad was. He's so cute and they have a good time together.
This was us saturday night at Ian's work. Brad had never been there and was a little jealous of the Rock Band and half pipe in the back. We stayed and played rock band for awhile and it was my first time. It's way cool and easier than I thought..... thank goodness.
Brad and I left Sunday morning to go see his mom who was visiting his sister. We had dinner at Bill and Cindy's and then stayed up and played Hand and Foot... very confusing but pretty fun once I got the hang of it. We ended up staying the night and left early in the morning. It was so nice to be able to see all of our families and can't wait to go back down to see everone again!

My 1st Trip to Lagoon!!!

My mom had been planning on coming up to Utah for awhile and was going to come see us and we were going to have to take her back down. So we thought hey, let's go to Lagoon since I have never been. Plans changed and my dad and sister (Jules) were coming up too so it was easier for us to go down. But we still wanted to go to Lagoon! So this is the Friday we left to go to Utah!!
This is Brad and I and my new hair color of choice. On our way down at like...7 in the morning. It was really early and for some reason we could manage to be awake enough for a picture!! It was the beginning of a fun weekend! We made really good time and got down to South Weber around 10 and Lagoon didn't open til 11. So Brad noticed at Grandpa Snowball's funeral that he was born in South Weber, and knew of a tiny local graveyard that he thought had some Snowballs buried there. So we took a detour to this graveyard. It was interesting looking at all the different tombstones, and how they did them. We didn't find any Snowballs but I love that Brad pays attention to details like that and suprises me with little side trips like that. It really meant a lot to me and it was really sweet. This is Brad infront of the biggest tombstone there..in the back ground.
We really like hats and we were waiting for Alex and his cousin Rylie to get there. The guy in the store just stared at us like we were crazy but we had fun with them.. Brad was wearing a "pimp" hat (sorry mom I know you don't like that word, but that's what it was called. ha) and I'm wearing an old lady flowery hat..but you can't really see the flowers... Dang.
Brad and the boys decided to do some drag racing. It was really cool to watch minus there were tons of bees following me. But they went super fast and after Brad got third twice he got 2nd on his last try... go Brad!!
This is Brad and Rylie doing to the Catapult. It basically launches you 280 feet into the air... Stupid boys... Alex and I were way to scared to even attempt... but they have a camera on the ride so we got to see the boys faces as they got launched and came back down! Pretty cool!
All and all it was a really fun trip to Lagoon, Brad played a throwing game and won a big monkey. And we all played some mini golf! All the rides were really fun and pretty intense.. But we had a blast.

Reminiscing

1. Leave one memory that you and I had together, as a comment on my blog. Anything goes.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll check to see if you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

A Long B-Lated 4th of July!!

Sorry this took so long with finals and and starting to work full time, and finishing a room I've finally found the time to get to my Blog.
Brad and I went down to Lindsay and Jeremy's for the weekend. We had tons of fun! First we went to the 4th of July and got a bag full of candy! I think I'm just going to explain each picture and then add everything I might have forgotten! ha
This is Brad and I doing sparklers infront of house. I had never done them before and we had a lot of fun doing fireworks. But probably not as much as the kids! This is Brad and Tyson during the carnival after the parade. He slept in his car seat most of the time. And when he was awake he pretty much looked just like that! Ha He was tons of fun to get to know. He's such a happy boy with a fun personality.
Ha.. This Rylie in the Jumper at the carnival, that she had to go in. It was a jungle in there with the big kids, we all stood outside watching her, scared she was going to get stepped on. But she did have fun!
Here's Rylie again doing sparklers, Jeremy tested our talents by giving us two! As you can see Rylie did a good job and had fun with the fireworks.
And here is Tyson again AKA Buddah! This was during the softball tournament that Jeremy played in but sadly lost but we all had fun watching him and enjoying some sun. This was also the spot we watched fireworks. No cries out of Rylie or Tyson...I'm guessing a parents dream during 4th of July.
The next day we went to an event called the Cruise In. It's where all these cool tricked out cars or old cars drive down a street and come back up again. It was so much fun and there were tons of awesome cars. All and all we had so much fun and thank Lindsay and Jeremy for inviting us.

Today is the 25th and we are done with school, finals, and stress. Alex is down for the weekend and so we did some fireworks outside and now they are playing videogames. Luckily I have work in the morning and will be going to bed pretty soon.

Anyways I'm back and I'm sorry for not being around! I'm so excited to have Rachel in our lives and that she is healthy! I can't wait to see her and squeeze all that chubbiness!! Love you all!!

House becoming a Home!!

I haven't done a lot of blogging because, well, nothing has really been going on. Brad and I are getting ready to be done with school in the next couple weeks, we're both working and for some reason never have a day off together. So, while Brad's at work I like to go see him. I find things for the house and things that I would like to do. I've decided it's time to get more color in the living room. So I bought some curtains on an awesome sale! I put them up all by myself and Brad and I love what they bring to the room.
I then wanted to get the pictures up on the wall. It was looking boring. I bought a big frame to fill with random pictures of Brad and I. After filling a few frames I had I finally got them up! It's starting to come together, and I couldn't be more excited! If you haven't seen our apartment this is the front of the house and the front door is to the left in the back corner so it's one of the first walls you see when you walk in and now it's full! Yay!!
I still don't know about the way it's set up, but I like it for right now!

A Sad Good-Bye

Yesterday afternoon I fed Little Boy, but he didn't attack his food as usual, I found it odd but I thought maybe I fed him the day before that so he's not that hungry. Then a few hours later I had my friend Kristal over and I was in the kitchen and little boy was lying upside down at the bottom of the bowl. He always plays dead so I kinda shook the bowl like I always do and nothing happened. I was horrified, Little Boy was dead. He was my first pet since I had been on my own.
I got Little Boy last summer from some boys, we stole them, and then they just let us have them. (It was a big war.)I loved having a pet during school, he was always happy and always knew when I was around. After Summer semester was over Little Boy has survived one trip to Utah all the way up to Washington to live with Brad for awhile, and resently survived the long journey from Washington to Rexburg (a 2 day trip). He was always so much fun, he loved looking like he was dead and scaring me to death, and loved the bamboo in his fish bowl. I had real pictures of him but the memory card apparently wasn't in the camera, but this is pretty much exactly what he looked like.

Brad and I are now looking for another beta. We'll probably have a new one by the end of the week.

Brad didn't get the job that he interviewed for, but the good news is they are going to certify him so maybe the next opening will be his shot! In the mean time, his managers would love for him to join them as CSM's so we'll see if that becomes a sure thing!!

Guess what's comin' to Town!

Tomorrow is the Annual Rexburg AirShow! It takes place at the park right close to our apartments. We've both never been to an air show so we are pretty excited about it! We probably won't see moves like the picture but hey, it will still be fun! From what I've heard it a pretty big deal around here, which I understand because there isn't a lot that goes on around here! haha

P.S.
Brad had his interview and he said that it went pretty good, and he's pretty sure he will find out on Monday whether or not he got the position! So we'll see!!

Cross your Fingers!!

As you may or may not know Brad is seriously looking into Pharmaceuticals. He is working as a cashier at Walmart and has tested to work in the Pharmacy and when there is an opening they will interview within Walmart and then hired from outside if they don't find anything. Well apparently there is going to be an opening as a Pharmacy Tech and Brad has an interview for the job tomorrow (Friday 13th...) So pray for him and cross your fingers he gets it. This is a wonderful opportunity for Brad and something he is looking forward to in his time working at Walmart. So GOOD LUCK BRAD!!!

Well Brad is out of the giant brace as of today!! Yay!!! We went to the doctors and he bent Brad's knee for the first time in a week. Brad was very excited!! He is now wearing a smaller brace that let's him bend his knee! Oh ya and no more crutches!
